Position: Men’s and Women’s Basketball Intern
Reports To: Senior Associate Commissioners for Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball
This internship will provide the opportunity to receive sports administration education and training in one of the premier Division I collegiate athletic conference offices. This position will be exposed to and involved in the ongoing development of West Coast Conference initiatives, providing hands-on experience and learning opportunities, particularly in the areas of NCAA basketball and sport management.
Principal Functions.
75% Primary support of men's and women's basketball operations. Provide day-to-day operational, analytical, and administrative support for WCC Basketball initiatives. Examples of associated tasks include:
•Conduct research and data analysis to track and evaluate comparative program data relative to team performance, scheduling, officiating, sportsmanship, and other key areas of emphasis.
•Develop materials and provide comprehensive support for Basketball Operations Cabinet and annual head coaches' meetings (research, reports, presentations, etc.)
•Provide key operational support for WCC Basketball Championship, including management of the championship operations manual, and assist with preseason media events
•Assist with conference monitoring and advocacy efforts related to NCAA postseason selection
•Support WCC Basketball officiating operations, including execution of regular season and postseason evaluations, coordinating logistics for the WCC Tournament, etc.
•Assist with schedule management via centralized online platform
•Maintain a composite schedule of all non-conference games across WCC programs
•Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by basketball administrative staff
25% Support Conference sport administration and championships. Examples of associated tasks include:
•Assist with preparations and execution of other conference championships and events, including manual updates, planning meetings, and on-site operational support
•Support administrative efforts related to the Game Management Advisory Group
•Develop materials for head coaches and administrative meetings (notes, reports, etc.)
•Contribute to other projects and responsibilities as needed
Additional Information.
The start date of the internship is tentatively August 3, 2026, and the end date is June 30, 2027. This is a 20-hour-a-week internship with hours arranged with a supervisor. The intern will be paid $18.00/hour, and the internship does not include benefits.
This position will be based out of the WCC Office in San Bruno, CA. Some travel will be required.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements.
Demonstrated experience with the WCC’s core values of integrity, servant leadership, inclusion, excellence, innovation, communication, and collaboration.
Demonstrated enrollment toward, or completion of, a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree required.
Experience in athletics administration, sports management, or related field (including volunteer work) preferred
Strong technical proficiency with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Ability to analyze data and translate metrics into clear, actionable insights to support decision-making; experience with data visualization tools preferred
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities independently, excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with NCAA compliance regulations and basketball rules.
Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, the West Coast Conference, and its institutions’ programs and/or higher education preferred.
