POSITION SUMMARY: Assistant Athletic Trainer (ATC) - Westmont College is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer to assist with managing all aspects of the Athletic Training Room for the care and treatment of student athletes. Westmont College is an NCAA DII institution with 16 intercollegiate athletic teams that competes in the PacWest Conference. The ATC will be contracted through Elite Physical Therapy for a full-time 10-month position (starting in August) at Westmont College. Full benefits package is included in the contract.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the planning, organization, coordination, and management of health care to intercollegiate student-athletes. Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, management and education of student-athlete injuries while maintaining fluid communication between the student-athlete, coaches, sports performance coaches, physical therapists and physicians. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve as the primary athletic trainer for the teams assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and assist with other sports when scheduling conflicts arise. This includes, but is not limited to:
? Oversee the assessment, evaluation and treatment of all student athletes for respective sport assignments, including injury prevention programs.
? Keep record and maintain all documentation including, but not limited to, injury reports, treatment logs, rehabilitation programs, progress notes and physician’s notes/recommendation.
? Assist and guide students with any medical insurance processing for injuries incurred during collegiate activities.
? Communicate with athletes and coaches efficiently regarding injury, rehabilitation, activity level, and plan.
? Travel and work nights and weekends with individual teams based upon game/travel schedules.
? Oversee the set up and management of all home contests for events ATC is scheduled for by Head Athletic Trainer. Communicate with athletic trainers from the visiting team and provides any necessary services as needed.
? Communicate with host athletic trainer of opposing team for away contests and relay any necessary requirements our team(s) may need while traveling.
? Mentor and assist in managing all sports medicine student interns.
? Create and teach weekly observation student learning labs.
? Maintain proper inventory of all necessary supplies in the athletic training room and place supply orders approved by Head Athletic Trainer.
? Assist with scheduling doctors and other medical interventions and procedures as needed for injured athletes.
? Collect, maintain and review accurate and thorough medical files (including personal medical insurance coverage documentation, medical history, etc.) on each student athlete. Follows all HPAA requirements in maintaining confidential records and files.
? Participate in all necessary and required continuing education courses in order to stay current on protocols and procedures and keep all certifications valid and up to date.
? The violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer, preferably in the collegiate environment. Must have completed a CAATE accredited athletic training program, obtain BOC ATC credentials and maintain current emergency cardiac care (ECC) certification that fulfills BOC Standards of Professional Practice.
