Located in Staunton, VA, Mary Baldwin University recently grew from college to university status reflecting its range of bachelor’s, master level, and doctoral programs. MBU is a very diverse entrepreneurial institution with a record of innovation aspiring to meet the evolving higher education needs of society. The MBU men’s baseball program will be starting its seventh season during the 2026-2027 academic year and competes in the USA South Athletic Conference

The successful candidate will assist with all facets of MBU’s NCAA Division III men’s baseball program, including:

* Utilizing well-developed professional and interpersonal communication skills, working closely with many campus constituencies, including the athletic department staff.

* Recruit highly motivated student athletes in coordination with the head coach and the Admissions Office staff.

* Assist with the development and implementation of practice and competition schedules that challenge the student-athletes.

* Create daily pitching plans for entire pitching staff. * Develop and implement daily, monthly, and yearly strength and conditioning and arm health routines for all pitchers.

* Compile, organize, and analyze all required statistical data for development of all baseball program members.

* Assist with any field maintenance requests within the baseball program and/or athletic department.

* Develop and organize scouting reports for all baseball opponents/contests.

* Team Laundry (Uniforms).

* Game management for home athletic contests.

* Contribute to a diversified and inclusive campus that features equity through Title IX compliance.

* Monitor and promote academic and athletic success and excellence.

* Monitor baseball study hall sessions and other academic programs for team members.

* Endorse and support in all aspects of the program rules and policies of MBU, NCAA Division III and USA South Athletic Conference.

* Assist the head coach with developing budget, schedules and travel plans, etc., within the University mission standards that provide for quality student-athlete experience to enhance student retention for the institution.

* Encourage student-athletes to fully develop as well-rounded members of the campus community that will grow into leadership roles upon graduation.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Collegiate baseball playing and/or coaching experience.  Recruiting experience in collegiate athletics. Candidates must have strong organizational skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively within the athletic department and throughout the University community. Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division III rules. Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy. The successful candidate must pass all required background and reference checks. 

Preferred Qualifications: Coaching experience within an NCAA Division III intercollegiate program; prior experience with recruiting, skill instruction, practice/game plan development, and administrative responsibilities required fiscal management and recruiting experience.
