Associate Director of Athletics for Budget and Finance

Williams College is pleased to announce an opening for an Associate Director of Athletics for Budget and Finance. This full time, year-round position will report to the Director of Athletics. The role of the Associate Director is to aid in the development of departmental budgets, operations and policies by providing athletics minded financial perspective to issues. Responsibilities also include custody of the department’s regular, gift and endowed resources and the management of fiscal record keeping in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and College guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and approve the timely and accurate payment of all department financial obligations, ensuring the appropriate categorization of expenses for internal College financial reporting purposes, appropriate financial controls, federal (EADA), and occasional grant reporting purposes.
- Plan, forecast, submit and monitor the $2,000,000 plus annual budget for the department’s 200+ regular operating, gift, endowed and agency accounts. Give input into the development of department operations and policies by providing a budgetary perspective to issues. Collaborate with Development and Alumni Engagement staff to align fund-raising opportunities with Athletics budget priorities.
- Manage athletic department business office operations that includes all aspects of the department’sfinancial operations and team travel with the support of two staff members.
- Oversee team travel scheduling and coordination, ensuring coverage and providing support for the logistics of 300+ athletic contests annually
- Prepare and submitbudgets for bids to host NCAA championship competitions. Prepare and reconcile all post-season NCAA expense reports for team and individual championship travel, and host NCAA championship competitions.
- Maintain departmental records, financial reporting, and system administration in PeopleSoft and other softwares
- Ensure smooth transfer of information with key partners in Human Resources and Payroll for the recruitment, onboarding, and payment concerns of student workers, temporary employees, and staff.
- Collaborate across campus departments in support of student athlete needs and other projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s plus at least 5 years of highly relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered at an Assistant Director level
- Experience in financial management and prior supervisory experience required
- Proficiency in accounting, database management, and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent organizational, communication, and business writing skills
- Attention to detail, the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
- Ability to foster an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment
- Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics preferred
- PeopleSoft administration experience preferred
