Position: The Millsaps College Majors are seeking applicants for the opening of a graduate assistant position within the Sports Information Department. Millsaps is a member of Division III and features 18 programs that compete in the Southern Athletic Association. The graduate assistant will complete a Master of Business Administration (MBA), while assisting the Director of Sports Information with assigned duties.
The position offers full coverage of graduate tuition, room and board. The 24-month position will start August 1, 2022 with the Fall Term in the Else School of Management beginning August 22.
Description: The Sports Information Graduate Assistant will report to the Director of Sports Information as an assistant. Preferred areas of responsibility will include assisting with stating and spotting using Genius NCAA Live Stats for basketball, football, soccer and volleyball as well as StatCrew for baseball, softball and tennis. The graduate assistant will also be responsible for press releases, social media coverage (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), graphic design, marketing efforts video production, streaming equipment setup and breakdown. The successful applicant will also have preferred abilities to be able to conduct interviews, help oversee student work staff, assist with award nominations, aid in the maintenance of information, bios, schedules and photos on gomajors.com and other day-to-day office duties.
Physical Demands/Other Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of AP Style writing, preferred
- Passion for sports, preferred
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule preferred, including evenings and weekends as well as within the framework of the graduate program
- Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, as well as extensively walk and stand, preferred
- Willingness to learn and develop within the field of Sports Information, preferred

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Must be accepted into the Millsaps College Else School of Management graduate program
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Prior experience with Athletic Communications preferred
- Experience with collegiate athletic website services similar to SIDEARM, preferred
- Experience with statistical programs (Genius NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew, PrestoStats), preferred
