Kansas Athletics is seeking our next Director of Spirit Squad! The Director of the Spirit Squad is responsible for coordinating practices, game day events and university events for the Spirit Squad. The Spirit Squad comprises of cheerleaders, Rock Chalk Dancers, and mascots. This position is also responsible for monitoring the annual budget, organizing and managing clinics, fundraisers, arranging team travel, lodging and other travel accommodations, in addition to maintaining inventory of uniforms and equipment, and coordinating all non-game related appearances.
This is a part-time position, up to 30 hours per week. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position. Early morning, evening and weekend work maybe required. Compensation is set at $15.00/hour which equates to an annual salary of $23,400. The Director of Spirit Squad position is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt level position, meaning the position is eligible for overtime pay.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
• A minimum of two years Spirit (dance/cheer) coaching experience, including gymnastics, co-ed stunting training with spotting techniques and dance training;
• Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite;
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.);
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills and exceptional interpersonal relationship and people skills;
• Must possess creativity, innovation, discipline, motivation, responsibility, maturity and a positive attitude;
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed;
• Ability and willingness to work a non-standard scheduled such as occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of cheer/dance coaching experience at the collegiate level;
• Experience coaching teams competitively at the National level.
