Eastern University invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, this position requires a commitment to the core values of Eastern Athletics and, in particular, plays a vital role in the physical and mental health and safety of our student-athletes.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer works with the Head Athletic Trainer to provide athletic training services for all EU student-athletes and support their endeavors for excellence.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with developing, organizing, implementing, budgeting, and supervising of the athletic training services program; performing responsibilities related to the prevention, rehabilitation, care, and education of student-athletes; and acting as a resource for all members of the Eastern University community at large and specifically for student-athletes in the intercollegiate sports program.
This position is responsible for ensuring that departmental efforts, especially those under the purview of the Assistant Athletic Trainer position description, support the mission of the University and are in compliance with all NCAA, MAC-Commonwealth Conference, and University rules and regulations.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is accountable for modeling a positive, professional demeanor as is inherent in higher education and athletics, as well as for mentoring student-athletes with an emphasis in Christian formation. This is a full-time, 12-month, support staff position within the Department of Athletics.
A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, or closely related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred. NATABOC Certified as an ATC is required, as is appropriate state registration or licensure. First Aid / CPR for the Professional Rescuer is also required, with Instructor certification preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills, a positive mindset, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail are essential. The ability, and desire, to work successfully within a team-oriented department environment is required. A commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics and a working knowledge of NCAA rules is needed. Candidates must exhibit an understanding of, and support for, the University’s Christian Mission. Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Eastern University and the Athletic Department to alumni and friends of the university.
