Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking highly motivated applicants for a Graduate Assistant Athletic Performance Coach.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Director and Assistant Director in the design and implementation of training programs; meeting with sport coaches and athletic trainers to collaborate on program design and modifications; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance.
The graduate assistant in this position will develop skills in human relations, supervision skills, public presentations, and communication and documentation skills.
Acceptance into SIUE Graduate School; must maintain a 6-12 hour course load per semester
Evidence of sound organizational skills and strong work ethic
Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public
Demonstrated strong and effective communication and computer skills
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Progress towards CSCS and/or SCCC certification
Previous athletic performance experience and desire to progress as a strength and conditioning professional
Acceptance into SIUE's Exercise Physiology or Exercise and Sport Psychology graduate program
Current CSCS and/or SCCC certification
PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT: 5-month initial appointment beginning January 1, 2020 through May 31, 2020. The expectation is for a two year commitment to the position through subsequent appointment renewals, assuming success in the position.
SALARY: $913 per month stipend. Includes tuition waiver. GA is responsible for student fees.
