Since 1929, San Francisco State has sponsored intercollegiate athletics with the intent of providing support for academic excellence, personal development, and service to the community, career development and athletic excellence. Gator Athletics is committed to providing successful and equitable opportunities for our diverse student-athlete population and is committed to supporting an inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty/coaches. San Francisco State is a member of NCAA Division II and sponsors 10 sports: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s soccer, softball, men’s outdoor track and field, women’s outdoor track and field, women’s volleyball, and men’s wrestling. San Francisco State is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in all sports except wrestling, which is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).
