Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Director of Golf Operations, Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach is responsible for the strategic leadership, day-to-day management, and competitive success of both varsity golf programs at the NCAA Division III level. This dual-role position plays a critical role in supporting student-athlete development, program visibility, and institutional compliance. The incumbent ensures alignment with institutional values and adherence to NCAA, SCIAC, and university regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of collegiate, professional, or high-level amateur golf coaching or equivalent experience in golf instruction and program administration.
Relevant experience in college or professional athletics.
Ability to organize and operate an effective college athletic program while motivating and mentoring student-athletes. Includes (but not limited to) experience with: budget management, team travel logistics and expenditures, overall inventory (i.e. equipment, uniforms, balls, bats, etc.), season competition scheduling, fundraising, student-athlete academic progress monitoring, alumni relations, and rules compliance.
Ability to stay abreast of, and incorporate into daily operations, current and developing trends (video, voice, data, and computing technologies).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and personnel simultaneously.
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, sexual preference/identity, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
Experience supervising and training employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling.
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of high pressure and constant change.
Ability to travel and recruit student athletes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Ability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs, utilizing proper grammar and punctuation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level, with a proven record of success in leading a golf program.
A Master’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field.
NCAA Division III coaching experience.
Personal student-athlete experience, in golf at the collegiate level.
Specific Duties: Duty:
GOLFOPERATIONS & SUPPORTOVERSIGHT
Coordinate all operational aspects of two NCAA collegiate golf programs, men’s and women’s, in partnership with institutional support offices, including athletics communication, sports medicine, academic support, compliance, and strength and conditioning.
Serve as the primary operations liaison for both programs, ensuring cohesive integration of all support functions.
Percentage of Time: 10%
Duty:
BUDGETMANAGEMENT and OVERSIGHT
Track, allocate, and reconcile each program’s annual budget, ensuring financial resources are assigned appropriately across coaching, facilities, equipment, recruitment, and travel.
Collaborate with the athletic department’s administrative team to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and institutional/departmental financial policies.
Monitor expenditures to ensure the program stays within budget and works efficiently with available resources.
Source vendors and manage procurement of team equipment and apparel.
Ensure adherence to university purchasing policies and maintain accurate inventory of program assets.
Serve as the primary ambassador for the golf programs, representing the team at public events, media interviews, and community outreach programs.
Lead annual fundraising efforts for both golf programs and assist with athletics department-wide development events.
Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including donations, sponsorships, and fundraising events, to enhance the financial sustainability of the program.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners to strengthen engagement and support.
Represent the program at institutional and external events, including community outreach and donor functions.

TEAMTRAVELPLANNING & EXECUTION
Independently plan and manage complex team travel logistics for both teams, including transportation, lodging, meals, and competition itineraries.
Develop travel budgets and reconcile expenses in accordance with university policy.

Communicate each program’s operational needs, budget priorities, and program updates to athletic senior leadership.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings, strategic planning initiatives, and professional development activities.
Document key decisions and maintain clear records for operational accountability.

Duty:
COMPLIANCE and INSTITUTIONALALIGNMENT
Follow and uphold all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and SCIAC rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the University, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recruitment guidelines, eligibility requirements, and other regulations relevant to the golf programs.
Align both teams’ goals and operations with university mission and strategic direction.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or a designee assigned by the Director of Athletics.

STUDENT-ATHLETEDEVELOPMENTANDINSTRUCTION
Design and implement comprehensive, year-round training plans for individual and team golf performance, focused on skill development, strategic awareness, and physical conditioning.
Implement strategies for technical, tactical, and mental skill development.
Conduct structured practices and manage in-competition coaching responsibilities.
Percentage of Time: 20%

RECRUITMENT & ENROLLMENT
Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to attract academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
Coordinate and evaluate recruiting activities, including digital scouting, off-campus visits, and on-campus recruiting events.
Maintain ongoing communication with prospective student-athletes and their families, consistent with NCAA Division III and SCIAC guidelines.
Recruit and enroll 2 to 3 athletes per team, per year.
Percentage of Time: 15%

PROGRAMLEADERSHIP & TEAMCULTURE
Provide visionary leadership for two NCAA collegiate golf programs, men’s and women’s, cultivating an environment centered on competitive integrity, academic achievement, and personal growth.

STAFF and ADMINISTRATIVELEADERSHIP
Hire, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches and support staff, promoting professional development and collaborative teamwork.
Ensure effective communication and operational coordination within the coaching staff and athletic department.
Manage administrative duties related to the soccer program, including scheduling, travel arrangements, budgeting, and compliance with institutional/departmental policies.
Percentage of Time: 10%
Duty:
ACADEMICSUPPORT & RETENTIONINITIATIVES
Monitor academic progress and eligibility of all student-athletes in collaboration with academic advising and compliance offices.
Serve as an academic mentor, making referrals to tutoring and support resources as needed.
Participate in university retention and orientation programming (e.g., SOAR, advising support).
Percentage of Time: 5%
