New Heights Field Hockey Club is one of New Jersey’s top programs, known for its nationally ranked teams, strong college placement record, and positive, player-centered culture. Based in Chatham, NJ, the club serves athletes from elementary through high school with year-round training, travel teams, and clinics that build skill, confidence, and love for the game.

The Role The Head Coach will lead the overall coaching vision and daily operations of New Heights’ competitive and developmental programs. This includes mentoring assistant coaches, setting training standards, and fostering an environment that challenges athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all player development programs (travel, indoor, clinics, and camps). Design and implement age-appropriate training curriculums for U12–U19 teams. Attend all training sessions and weekend local tournaments as part of the club’s year-round schedule. Coach one or more elite travel teams at regional and national tournaments (Festival, Disney Showcase, RCC/NCC, Winter Escape, NIT). Collaborate with club directors on player evaluations, rosters, and college recruiting support. Build positive relationships with athletes, families, and partner programs. Ensure New Heights’ culture of inclusivity, respect, and teamwork is reflected in every program.

Schedule & Commitment This is a part-time, year-round role with seasonal variation. The Head Coach is expected to attend all training sessions, local weekend tournaments, and major travel events. Fall (September–November): Weekly clinics, festival team practices, and tournament preparation Winter (December–March): Indoor season with weekday evening practices (typically Wednesdays and Thursdays) and weekend competitions Spring–Summer (April–early July): Outdoor season, including league play, regional tournaments, and national showcases (such as Disney and Winter Escape) While the exact calendar may vary, candidates should expect consistent weekly involvement during competitive periods and travel for key tournaments.

The salary range for this position is $50,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience and education.

While New Heights does not currently offer a full benefits package, the club is open to discussing limited medical coverage or other support options as part of the final offer.

Qualifications
Minimum of 2–3 years of coaching experience at the club, high school, or collegiate level (head or assistant)
Collegiate playing experience or international background preferred
Deep understanding of player development across all age levels
USA Field Hockey certification required (also a willingness to obtain and pursue future certifications)
Proven ability to lead and motivate coaching staff
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Commitment to building a positive, growth-focused environment
Experience with athlete recruiting and exposure events preferred
