Job Title and Description: CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR / CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – STRENGTH & CONDITIONING. This is a full-time, non-tenure eligible clinical faculty position in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training (ESAT). As a clinical faculty role, the successful candidate will also work as part of our Strength & Conditioning team with IC Athletics. This position is promotion-eligible with criteria related to teaching, scholarship and service.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are teaching courses within the Strength & Conditioning concentration offered to undergraduate Exercise Science majors. The successful candidate will serve as the Field Experience Coordinator with 11-credits directed towards teaching, mentoring and academic advising of students. The successful candidate will also receive 3-credits of release towards scholarship and service, and towards the performance of other related tasks as assigned by the Program Director and ESAT Department Chair. The successful candidate will also receive 10 credits (~16-hours per week) of release to assist in the day-to-day operations of delivering a comprehensive strength and conditioning program to Division III varsity athletes under the direction of the head strength and conditioning coach.

Department Description: The Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training at Ithaca College consists of 15 full-time faculty, housed in the Center for Health Sciences. Programs within the department enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, including two weight rooms, three athletic training clinics, a wellness center, and dedicated spaces for teaching and research in strength and conditioning, athletic training, human anatomy, neuromuscular control, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sport psychology. An undergraduate degree (B.S.) in Exercise Science with concentrations in Sports Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Strength & Conditioning is offered. Graduate (M.S.) degrees are offered in Athletic Training (Professional Program) and Exercise Science (with concentration areas in Mental Performance and Human Performance).

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field is required.
A current CPR / AED and first aid certification is required upon hire.
Evidence of college-level teaching or mentorship (minimum 1 year) is required, with experience of teaching content specific to strength and conditioning (e.g. testing, programming and exercise instruction) preferred.
One to three years of experience in strength and conditioning coaching is required.
Previous experience of devising and implementing training programs with collegiate athletes from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive manner is preferred.
Evidence of an ability to collaborate with sports coaches, sports medicine, and athletic trainers regarding the athletic preparation of athletes.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
An ability to teach additional content related to exercise science, medicine, or health care (e.g. sports nutrition, tactical strength and conditioning, personal training, etc.) is desirable.
