Position Description Plan and develop daily business functions for various departments within the athletic organization. Ensure the athletic organization maintains a favorable public and stakeholder perception while fulfilling the organization's strategic mission.
Major/Essential Functions
Develop and manage publicity for various teams, serving as the primary contact for sports as assigned (Volleyball & Softball).
Write, research, compile, and edit various athletics department communications materials, including press releases, game notes, game programs, social media content, and feature articles for sports as assigned. The position has a heavy emphasis on social and digital media coverage.
Assist in overall maintenance and upkeep of the athletic department website (www.texastech.com), specifically focusing on assigned sports.
Serve as social media contact for assigned sports. Contribute to the department’s social media communication efforts.
Coordinate gameday operations and supervise gameday staff for sports as assigned.
Responsible for updating record books and student-athlete/coaches’ bios in a timely manner.
Arrange public appearances and coordinate interviews with head coach and student-athletes for assigned sports.
Promote student-athletes for various national, regional, and conference awards.
Manage all host responsibilities in regard to television and media members.
Responsible for maintaining current and historical statistical archives for designated sports.
Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech rules, regulations, and policies.
Ability to travel and work nights and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field plus three years related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal seven years.
Preferred Qualifications
Able to utilize graphic design platforms including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Strong writing ability and background in publicizing through social media.
