Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Assistant or Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics senior leadership team and is responsible for administering all aspects of a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes. Responsibilities include managing an NCAA Division II compliance program, coordinating student-athlete welfare initiatives, eligibility and other programs, facility/event management, and monitoring and maintaining compliance regarding Title IX and gender equity.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the Department of Athletics senior leadership team; assists in managing and monitoring the Department of Athletics.
Serve as the primary liaison between head coaches, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Life, and Residence Life.
Compliance: Oversees daily operations of the Compliance Office by monitoring daily/weekly/monthly NCAA paperwork from coaches. Coordinates paperwork for National Letters of Intent (NLIs) and Letter of Commitments (LOCs). Coordinates student-athlete scholarship renewal paperwork. Monitors and reviews all recruiting activities for adherence to College, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Provides regular communication with athletic and coaching staff regarding academic progress and athletic eligibility status. Attends NCAA-sponsored rules seminars.
Eligibility: Monitors the eligibility status of all student-athletes; monitors all eligibility functions and staff work involving eligibility to ensure that all certifications for both initial and continuing academic eligibility have been performed correctly, and with adequate documentation. Evaluates and analyzes academic records and enrollment status of student-athletes to determine eligibility status for practice, financial aid, and completion; provide interpretations, updates on NCAA legislation and rules education to the various athletic department constituencies. Prepares waivers for restoration of eligibility. Works with Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to review NCAA eligibility, progress towards degree, and other waivers to NCAA or conference office as needed.
Reporting: Maintains Compliance Assistant Internet (CAi) to create an accurate database to create eligibility checklists. Monitors prospective student-athletes in the NCAA Eligibility Center. Prepares reports including ATS, Grad Rate/ASR in conjunction with other campus departments such as finance, institutional research, etc.
Assists in organizing departmental community service projects and leadership development opportunities.
Serves as the Sport Supervisor for certain sports.
Supervision of certain personnel.
Monitors and supervises compliance in regards to Title IX and Gender Equity. The incumbent will work closely with student-athletes, coaches, and staff along with the Title IX office to ensure training, education, and effective communication of Title IX and Gender Equity rules and regulations.
Advising the Director of Athletics on all compliance issues and student-athlete experience issues.
Attends Conference meetings and NCAA Conventions.
Assisting with game management as needed.
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility, including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Specialized Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Three or more years of experience in college athletics, which has included training and supervising the work of others.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules.
Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and college policies and regulations pertaining to the Athletics Department.
Working knowledge of a student information system, such as Banner.
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
General knowledge of personal computer software for business functions, especially spreadsheets, databases, word-processing applications, and email.
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills, and Experience:
Master’s Degree.
Five or more years of working in compliance or a related area.
Previous experience working with a diverse and multicultural population and performing community services.
Reports To:
This employee reports to the Director of Athletics.

Light to moderate lifting is required.
Travel:
Travel to non-conference and conference-scheduled away games, NCAA post-season contests, and RMAC meetings. Out-of-state travel may be necessary for recruiting / professional development.
