Position Overview:
D'Youville University, a dynamic and growing NCAA Division II institution located in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in the field of sports communication, media relations, and digital content creation while supporting the mission and goals of D’Youville Athletics.
The Graduate Assistant will assist in promoting and enhancing the visibility of D’Youville’s 21 varsity athletic programs through creative storytelling, multimedia content, and game-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities: •Assist with the creation, coordination, and dissemination of athletic communications across all platforms, including website, social media, and print. •Write and edit press releases, game recaps, feature stories, and athlete bios. •Manage game-day operations, including statistics, public address, live streaming, and photography. •Maintain and update the athletics website (dyusaints.com) with current scores, schedules, and team news. •Create engaging content for social media channels (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, etc.) and help grow online presence. •Assist with the development of graphic design and video highlights/promos. •Work closely with coaches, student-athletes, and administrators to tell the story of D’Youville Athletics. •Assist with special events, including Athletics Banquet, media days, and community engagement initiatives. •Serve as primary contact for assigned D’Youville Varsity programs
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Admission into a graduate program at D’Youville University (must maintain full-time enrollment).
Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and NCAA rules.
Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere) and/or statistical software (Presto, NCAA Live Stats, Statcrew, TrackWrestling) is a plus.
Knowledge of Sidearm and FloSports preferred.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
