The Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics (PERA) Department is seeking an individual with experience in working within a community of diverse students and colleagues. Successful candidates will by their administrative, professional skills, leadership and service demonstrate they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of athletics, the department and our community.
The PERA Department is currently accepting applications for a .40 FTE (July-June) appointment as Assistant Tennis Coach. This part-time faculty position does not include benefits and is appointed on an annual basis.
Responsibilities:
Coaching: Assist the head coach in the coaching, organization and administration of the program including but not limited to practice and match preparation; attending all practices and scheduled matches; academic and athletic support for students; recruiting assistance including travel; drilling and playing team members; practice and match analysis; videotaping; maintaining equipment and recruiting budget; organization and implementation of fundraising activities including teaching lessons.
Optional teaching: One Physical Education class each semester.
This is a part-time position that will also provide significant opportunities to earn additional compensation by teaching lessons year round at our indoor and outdoor facilities. This would be in addition to coaching salary and PE classes taught.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required but a master’s degree is preferred. One to two years of college coaching experience preferred. College or professional playing experience preferred. USPTA or USPTR certification and completion of the USTA High Performance Coaching Program is preferred. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required upon hire.
Salary and Start Date: $11,722 Coaching, $4,000 PE classes for total salary of $15,722 (plus significant compensation earned through year-round lessons). Start date is September 1, 2025.
