The Head Golf Coach and Events Supervisor provides leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their athletic, academic, and personal growth. This position upholds the integrity of the Athletics program by promoting Benedictine Values, building strong relationships across campus and the community, and supporting campus initiatives. In collaboration with the Athletic Director and college administrators, the coach develops a competitive and values-driven team culture while ensuring compliance with relevant athletic conference and division regulations. Additionally, the coach leads program development efforts, including recruitment, fundraising, and alumni engagement, to enhance the long-term success of the golf program.  

In the role of Club Sports Commissioner, this position is responsible for the development, direction, and scheduling of Club Sports on behalf of Saint John&#8217;s University.

 Head Golf Coach (85%) 
 Coaching and Training
 
 Plan and conduct effective team practices, skill sessions, and golf strategies
 Provide instruction on skills and techniques to enhance player development

Student-Athlete Development
 
 Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they meet academic eligibility requirements
 Provide guidance and support in personal, academic, and athletic development
 Promote a positive team culture that aligns with the SJU&#8217;s values and mission.

 Program Administration and Fundraising
 Ensure compliance with all NCAA, MIAC, and institutional rules and regulations
 Organize travel arrangements, scheduling, and logistics for games and practices
 Manage the golf program&#39;s budget and resources

 Provide direction to staff in maintaining accurate records and performance data for the team
 Supervise the upkeep and management of all equipment
 Cultivate relationships with alumnus, donors, and community members to generate financial support and program growth

Recruitment
 
 Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting strategy to attract high-quality student-athletes in line with NCAA Division III regulations
 Identify, evaluate, and communicate with prospective student-athletes through various channels and in conjunction with Admissions team
 Build relationships with high school coaches and other relevant stakeholders
 Maintain an active recruiting database and track prospective student athletes
 

Department and Campus Engagement
 
 Actively contribute to a collaborative and positive culture within the athletics department
 Support fellow coaches and staff by attending events, mentoring colleagues, and sharing best practices
 Support admissions and alumni relations efforts, serving as an ambassador for the athletics program
 Assist with game-day operations, special events, and fan engagement
 Participate in department meetings, committees, and initiatives that enhance the overall student-athlete experience
 Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director  
 

 Event Supervisor (15%) 
 
 Foster a welcoming and inclusive co-curricular experience for our student athletes that reflects positively on SJU.
 Provide guidance and support to student athletes and employees.
 Supervise designated home game-day venues, overseeing setup and breakdown of infrastructure such as bleachers, fencing, P.A. systems, scoreboards.
 Train and manage game-day security staff, ushers, field security, etc.
 Coordinate with visiting teams and officials prior to their arrival on campus and personally assist them upon arrival, escorting them to locker rooms, fields, courts, etc.
 If needed, collaborate with the Sports Marketing Director to execute in-game promotions.
 Monitor the condition of facilities and maintain regular communication with Athletic Facility Coordinator, custodial, physical plant, and life safety departments regarding repairs, maintenance or any other facility-related concerns.

Job Summary

Leading a competitive NCAA Division III women&#8217;s soccer program that aligns with the University mission, fosters academic and competitive success, and adheres to the NCAA Division III philosophy. Responsible for the administration and development of the program. Develops budget, schedule, travel and equipment needs.


Salary Range: $47,000-$50,000


Main Duties &#38; Responsibilities

Work within the university mission to provide a competitive, unique, and memorable collegiate athletic experience for student-athletes.
Instruct and observe student-athletes in individual and team skills.
Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes within the scope of MIAC, NCAA, and university guidelines as well as reaching annual recruiting goals.
Monitor team and individual academic success and degree completion.
Maintain a program compliant with NCAA, MIAC, and university rules and guidelines.
Build, develop, and maintain contacts and relations with athletic alumni, high school and club coaches and benefactors.

Partner with the development office to raise funds for the program in conjunction with university, department, MIAC, NCAA guidelines.
Oversee all necessary administrative responsibilities for the program including budget management and prompt submissions of expenses.
Coordinate, supervise and mentor assistant coaches.
Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications 
 
 
 
 Experience and Education Requirements 
 A relevant bachelor&#8217;s degree required, master&#39;s degree preferred. Experience with competitive coaching at the high school, collegiate, and/or club level required. In collaboration with compliance and athletics administration, maintain accurate and timely recruiting documentation and educate prospective and current student-athletes on applicable institutional and NCAA processes related to the evolving Division II environment, including NIL, transfer processes, roster management, and other permissible student-athlete benefits. 
Staff Leadership and Program Administration - 15% 

Hire, supervise, develop and evaluate assistant coaches and other assigned program staff. 
Manage program budget, equipment/apparel, scheduling, travel, and daily operations in alignment with department policies. 
Identify, evaluate, recruit, enroll, retain, and re-recruit student-athletes who can succeed academically and athletically and represent the university positively.
Collaborate with various areas, including, but not limited to compliance, advising, admissions, financial aid, communications, development, finance, facilities and operations. 
Academic Success and Student-Athlete Support - 10% 

Promote academic achievement, retention, graduation, and personal development of student-athletes.

Support student-athlete health, safety, and well-being and reinforce guidance from appropriate university and athletics professionals. 
External Relations and Development - 10%

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. 
Represent the university and program in a positive manner with alumni, donors, fans, media, campus partners, the cross country/track and field community and the general public.
Compliance and Governance - 5% 

Ensure full compliance with NCAA, and university rules, policies and procedures.
Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct among student-athletes, coaches, staff, and program constituents. 
Complete required education, reports, and documentation on time, including those related to recruiting, eligibility, camps/clinics, NIL-related institutional processes, transfer matters, business expenses, and other applicable areas. 
Physical and Travel Requirements 

Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel extensively for competition, recruiting and program responsibilities. 
Ability to demonstrate and instruct cross country/track and field skills in practice and training environments.  Qualifications 
 
 
 Required Qualifications:&#xa0; 
 
 Bachelor&#39;s degree.&#xa0; 
 Minimum of three years combined progressive experience as a head or assistant coach at the collegiate and/or professional level.&#xa0; 
 Demonstrated experience in recruiting student-athletes.&#xa0; 
 Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.&#xa0; 
 Leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.&#xa0; 
 Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, alumni, donors, campus partners, and external constituents.&#xa0; 
 Demonstrated commitment to academic success, student-athlete well-being, and building an inclusive team culture.&#xa0; 
 Demonstrated understanding of the evolving Division II athletics landscape, including NIL, transfer processes, roster/scholarship management, and related student-athlete benefit rules and institutional processes, with the ability to communicate those processes accurately and compliantly.&#xa0; 
 
 Preferred Qualifications:&#xa0;

 Position Overview 
 Minnesota State Community and Technical College is accepting applications for a  Head Women&#8217;s Basketball Coach  to begin fall semester 2026.  This position is located on the Fergus Falls campus. 
 Responsibilities: 
 Activities related to comprehensive community college teaching and learning, including but not limited to: 
 
 Head coach duties, including recruiting, conducting practices and tryouts,&#xa0;organizing and&#xa0;scheduling road trips, tracking students&#8217; athletic eligibility, and other related duties. 
 Monitor women&#8217;s basketball budget, fundraise as appropriate, and maintain spending practices in alignment with NJCAA rules. 
 What We&#8217;re Looking For 
 Minimum Qualifications: 
 
 Basketball coaching experience; 
 Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills; 
 Demonstrate the ability to recruit and coach; 
 Ability and commitment to adhere to the policies and procedures of Minnesota State Community and Technical College, MCCC and NCAA Division III.

 Preferred Qualifications:  
 
 Assistant or Head coaching (basketball) experience at the collegiate level. 
 Ability to work with a diverse population of students. 
 
 &#xa0; Assignment Credits &#38; Per Credit Salary Range: Coaches are considered temporary part-time faculty and pay is determined by the number of assignment credits. The Head Women&#8217;s Basketball Coach position is 9 credits.  The per credit salary rate is $1,435.56 up to $2,396.43.  Please note: Initial per credit salary placement is determined on the basis of education and experience in accordance with the faculty contract.</description>
