The University of Olivet is announcing a search for a full-time Recruitment Coordinator/Assistant Coach for Track and Field/Cross Country.
The University of Olivet is located in south central Michigan in the town of Olivet, MI, which is a close-knit, rural community offering quiet streets and natural surroundings, yet is not more than 30 minutes from the larger cities of Lansing and Battle Creek. Both are small enough to be friendly and large enough to boast many of the big city amenities.
The University of Olivet was founded in 1844 on the principle that the future of humanity rests in the hands, hearts, and minds of those who will take responsibility for themselves and others in an increasingly diverse society. Open since its founding to all regardless of race, gender, or ability to pay, Olivet is one of the most diverse private liberal arts institutions in the state and actively seeks diversity in its students and employees.
The student body is composed of a strong mixture of first-generation, urban, rural, and students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, with 50 percent qualifying annually for Federal Pell Grants. The University of Olivet includes faculty and staff who are committed to providing personalized, individualized attention for students who seek academic and personal success. Olivet competes in Division III of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest athletic conference in the nation.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties are to recruit (50%) for the men’s and women’s track and field / cross country programs and assist with coaching duties as assigned (50%) by the head track and field coach
Effectively communicate the benefits of attending a liberal arts institution to prospective students and their families
Work with the Head Coach to create and implement a strategic plan for the recruitment for prospective male and female track and field/ cross-country student-athletes both in Michigan and out of state
Operate within the standards of The University of Olivet, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Compensation:
Competitive annual salary and comprehensive benefits package, including tuition remission programs.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
Knowledge of NCAA, MIAA and institutional rules and regulations
Strong preference given to candidates in the jumps/sprints/hurdles area and strength training certified
Proven track record and ability to recruit track and field/cross country student-athletes
Ability to work effectively and coordinate recruiting efforts with the Head Track and Field/ Cross Country Coach
Evening and weekend hours essential
Knowledge of and ability to use a CRM and Slate for recruitment tracking purposes
Ability to work with various departments on campus for the recruitment of student-athletes
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a school van
Basic proficiency with computer software. i.e. google applications, athletic.net, mile split
