Assists the Director with the daily operations of the men’s and women’s track and field and cross-country programs at Millikin University. Analyzes performance and instructs athletes in events and techniques in preparation for and during athletics competition. Assists the Head Coach and Athletic Director with all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: 1.Assists the Director with the daily operations of the men’s and women’s track and field and cross-country programs at Millikin University. 2.Analyze performance and instruct athletes in events and techniques in preparation for and during athletics competition. 3.Assist with all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting. 4.Ensure a commitment to the academic success of track student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior. 5.Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community. 6.Manage equipment usage. 7.Serve as Lindsay Field and Track Facility Monitor. 8.Serve as Athletic Facility Monitor. 9.Serve as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Instructor for the Athletic Department as assigned. 10.Additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines.
Physical ability to complete typical coaching duties, including ability to lift and move athletic equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills
Proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes.
Proven ability to teach and implement current techniques and strategies of the sport.
Proven ability and aptitude to manage an operating budget.
Understanding and appreciation of NCAA Division III philosophy, rules and regulations.
Commitment to the goals and objective of Millikin University and CCIW.
Ability to work within and contribute to the team effort of the Millikin University Athletic Department.
A valid driver’s license is required.
