The Women&#8217;s Soccer Assistant Coach at Gardner-Webb University is responsible for the assistance of administration, supervision and management of his or her intercollegiate sport within the parameters of the rules and regulations of Gardner-Webb University. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Responsible for the development and implementation of intercollegiate program at direction of Head Coach

Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of a successful recruitment program of prospective student-athletes. 

Responsible for facilitating an atmosphere conducive to the continued academic and the athletic success of student-athletes, and for monitoring the academic programs of team members. 

May be requested to represent Gardner-Webb University before various groups, including media and alumni. 

Required to attend staff and individual meetings with the Head Coach. 

Required to be present at all team practices and games and to create an appropriate practice and game plan aimed at developing and preparing the team for successful competition. 

Responsible for such administrative tasks as maintaining rosters, scheduling practices and games (with the approval of the Head Coach), keeping team statistics, monitoring and supervising the condition and maintenance of team facilities, organizing and administering tournaments or events, and making travel/lodging arrangements.

Responsible for assisting Head Coach with recruitment of student-athletes

Required for fulfilling a variety of obligations to the conference and organization to which the sport is a member. This may include attending meetings and serving on committees. 

Advise the Head Coach on budgetary needs. 

Responsible for developing team morale so that the conduct of team members in practice, when participating in a contest, or while on the side lines or on the bench, reflects active interest in the team&#8217;s performance and conforms to the standards of true sportsmanship. 

Responsible for the physical condition of each team member, which may mean not permitting a student to practice or compete if they have not been deemed physically fit by the Athletic Trainer. Coaches will cooperate fully with the sports medicine staff, trainers, and doctors. 

As required by the NCAA, will report annually to the Director of Athletics, all athletically related income from outside the College which may include (but not limited to) income from camps, etc. 

Required to drive team vans when necessary to practice/game sites.

Main Duties &#38; Responsibilities

 This position specifically supports the Department and University&#8217;s mission through recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and providing administrative assistance for the Soccer (W) program and to the respective Head Coach.  Essential Functions 
 Devotes their full time, attention, and energy to their duties as Assistant Coach of the women&#8217;s soccer team. Complies fully with the rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and any and all conferences in which the women&#8217;s soccer team participates, and takes every reasonable precaution to ensure that all members of the women&#8217;s soccer staff and student athletes comply fully with such rules, regulations and policies. Understands they are subject to all applicable disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the NCAA enforcement procedures as they may be amended from time to time. Attends conventions, conferences, and clinics consistent with Department and University policies. Serves on Department and University committees as assigned. As a member of a Division I program for the University of Massachusetts, represents the school and program in a manner that supports the mission of the university. Speaking engagements, instructional clinics, development efforts, and community relation programs need to reflect a professional and positive impression to the media or general public. Works with student athletes and monitors their adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, appearance, and punctuality.

 Bachelor&#8217;s degree from an accredited institution. Two to four years of soccer intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience. Complies fully with the rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and any and all conferences in which the women&#8217;s soccer team participates, and takes every reasonable precaution to ensure that all members of the women&#8217;s soccer staff and student athletes comply fully with such rules, regulations and policies. Understands they are subject to all applicable disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the NCAA enforcement procedures as they may be amended from time to time. Uses reasonable efforts to attract and enroll impact student athletes that demonstrate significant contributions to their programs with appropriate academic, competitive, and community achievements. Assists the Head Coach to create a positive student-athlete experience and healthy team dynamics/culture that foster high student-athlete retention. Uses reasonable efforts to foster excellence in academic performance, team, and personal conduct of the women&#8217;s soccer team&#8217;s student athletes. Uses reasonable efforts to cultivate a culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. Strives to recruit and retain student-athletes with multifaceted backgrounds, skillsets, and passions. Uses reasonable efforts to foster success in competition of the women&#8217;s soccer team. Uses reasonable efforts to meet annual performance objectives established by the Head Coach. Understands the University shall annually evaluate their performance based upon the performance of their duties and responsibilities. Additional Department Expectations Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed by all student athletes. Works with athletics trainers and physicians to implement team wellness and conditioning programs. Supports direction Head Coach gives to the Sports Performance coach as to the desired training goals. Works with all Athletic Department Offices in processing of administrative functions and paperwork related to overseeing the women&#8217;s soccer program. Works with the Associate AD for Facilities, Operations &#38; Events in the advising, planning, and implementation of pertinent facility management and maintenance for equipment and facilities. Attends conventions, conferences, and clinics consistent with Department and University policies. Serves on Department and University committees as assigned. As a member of a Division I program for the University of Massachusetts, represents the school and program in a manner that supports the mission of the university. Speaking engagements, instructional clinics, development efforts, and community relation programs need to reflect a professional and positive impression to the media or general public. Works with student athletes and monitors their adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, appearance, and punctuality.

 Minimum Qualifications 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree from an accredited institution. Two to four years of soccer intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience. Certification in CPR and first aid Ability to work weekends and nights. Good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of women&#8217;s soccer methods and techniques of coaching. Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics. Ability to foster and maintain working relationships with various athletic publics.&#xa0; 
 Preferred Qualifications 
 Master&#8217;s degree required from an accredited institution. Two to four years of soccer intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience at the Division I level.&#xa0; 
 Additional Details 
 This position is typically a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. Varied schedule based on the demands of the position. Nights, weekends and holidays are required. This position is essential. This includes the obligation to return to work during any delays, early departures, and closures..

 Working Conditions 
 Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor athletic facilities and venues. May require travel to competitions, lifting and transporting equipment, prolonged standing, and walking during practices, games, and recruiting activities.

 Salary Information 
 UMass Amherst expects to pay within an approximate range between $55,000 - $62,000 for this position.
