The Associate Commissioner of Business & Administration is responsible for overseeing the Conference's financial operations and managing the overall office administration. This role ensures the efficient use of financial resources, adherence to accounting standards, and the seamless operation of the office environment. In addition, the position serves as a central point of coordination for the Commissioner’s office, managing project flow while helping to align priorities and drive execution across key initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

Financial Operations:
• Oversee the Conference's annual budget, ensuring it aligns with the organization's strategic goals.
• Develop, implement, and manage financial policies and procedures for the Conference Office.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing regular reports to the Commissioner, Council of Presidents, Finance Committee and member institutions.
• Supervise the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, the corporate purchasing card program, and payroll functions.
• Act as the Conference’s liaison to the member schools, banking partners and external accountants.
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Coordinate the annual financial audit and collaborate with the external auditors.
• Coordinate the annual tax submission process with the external auditors.
• Manage the Conference's financial reporting to the NCAA.
• Manage all membership contracts for full and associate members.
• Serve as the liaison to insurance companies to ensure adequate coverage for the organization.
• Manage the Conference's financial reporting to the NCAA and other entities.
  Human Resources:
• Oversee human resources policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Ensure the Conference office is compliant with employment laws, regulations and reporting.
• Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for new employees.
• Oversee the administration of the employee benefits programs.
• Manage the Conference's internship program.
  Office Operations:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Conference Office to maintain a productive and efficient work environment.
• Manage the office facilities, including maintenance and security.
• Oversee the IT vendor relationship to meet the office’s technology needs.
• Handle vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for office-related services.
• Ensure the availability and functionality of office equipment and supplies.
  Administrative Duties:
• Serve as the central point of coordination for the Commissioner’s office, managing project flow while helping to align priorities and drive execution across key initiatives.
• Maintain and oversee the Conference’s annual meeting calendar and membership directory.
• Plan and execute Conference leadership meetings, with responsibility for coordinating all meeting logistics, including scheduling, meeting space setup, catering, audio/video needs and hotel accommodations.
• Assist with maintaining the Conference’s administrators' website.
• Assist with Conference and NCAA championship administration.
• Perform other duties, including Commissioner delegated projects and championship support, as assigned.
  Reporting Structure:
• Reports directly to the Commissioner.

  Working Conditions:
• This position is based at the Conference Office.
• This position requires the ability to travel and work non-traditional hours, weekends, nights and holidays.
• This position includes required attendance at the Conference’s Basketball Championships and NCAA-hosted events. Attendance at select Olympic sport championships may be required as needed.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,), Adobe Suite programs and other relevant software required). Working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred.
