Rowan University is a member of the Division III New Jersey Athletic Conference. The part-time assistant coach reports directly to the Women’s Swimming Head Coach
General Description of Duties: a. Assist in developing and maintaining a women’s swimming program that is competitive within the conference, region, and Division III national level. a. Assist in the development and implementation of safe practice plans that successfully prepare student-athletes with the fundamentals for success in the sport of swimming. b. Knowledge to understand best practiced skill instruction and conditioning for various season phases. c. Conduct video analysis breakdown, as necessary. d. Responsible for assisting the Head Coach in developing a comprehensive and strategic meet lineups for scheduled contests throughout the season, as necessary. b. Develop a knowledge of university admissions policies, academic standards, and financial aid programs. c. Develop a knowledge of and adhere to NCAA and New Jersey Athletic Conference rules and regulations. d. In conjunction with the head coach, develop and implement systems to recruit student-athletes (ie: assess future needs, help identify club programs and individuals to target for recruitment, develop effective communication/recruitment strategies with prospective students, develop contacts with high school and club coaches, keep organized record of communication with prospective athletes, etc. e. Establish an effective and appropriate communication network with both athletic department and university faculty administration and staff, as necessary. f. Assistance in administrative duties, including but not limited to team travel accommodations, community service and fundraising organization, calendar management, alumni engagement, etc, g. Attendance to post-season team functions and other award honors, when necessary. h. Flexible schedule with weekend and evening availability. i. Other relevant duties as requested by the head coach. In addition to our traditional dual meet schedule, extended travel is essential.
Extended dates of travel are as listed: ? Mid-Season Invitational - November 20-23, 2025 ? Winter Training Trip - January 5-14, 2026 (exact dates to be confirmed) ? NJAC Conference Championship - February 11-15, 2026 ? Division III NCAA Championships - March 16-22, 2026
Qualifications: ? Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree ? Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high-achieving, collegiate student-athletes. ? Demonstrate effective coaching skills, knowledge of coaching tactics in the development of the student athlete, and the ability to promote a positive culture. ? Implementation of daily practice plan and competition strategy. ? Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches. ? Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. ? Successfully pass the NCAA recruiting examination within three months of hire. ? First Aid, AED, and CPR certification within three months of hire. ? American Red Cross lifeguard certification within three months of hire. ? Proficient with MS office products and GoogleDrive.
