Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach

Summary / Objective
Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Club Sports, the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach is responsible for all aspects of an elite-level NCAA Division II golf program. This includes promoting academic achievement, character development, and contributing to the overall College community. Responsibilities include recruiting, budget management, athlete development, and full program oversight in accordance with the rules and regulations of Lees-McRae College, Conference Carolinas, and NCAA Division II.
A strong focus on recruitment and retention of student-athletes, match preparation, player development, generation of net tuition revenue, and precise budget management is essential for this role.
Essential Functions
- Oversee all day-to-day operations including preparation, organization, and implementation of effective practice schedules, off-season programs, and in-season competitions.
- Oversee both varsity and developmental teams.
- Supervise part-time assistant coaches for individual instruction, practices, and both home and away competitions.
- Conduct extensive evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
- Train and develop all student-athletes.
- Work closely with staff at Linville Ridge Country Club, the program’s host course and training facility.
- Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and personal growth.
- Provide individual instruction, conditioning, and strength training.
- Coordinate match scheduling, meal planning, and practice/indoor facility reservations with Linville Ridge.
- Coordinate travel for away competitions.
- Invest in the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
- Coordinate and direct single-day ID clinics and week-long summer programs at Linville Ridge.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will supervise 1–2 part-time assistant coaches and provide direction to Linville Ridge staff assisting with scheduling for the indoor training facility and outdoor training areas.
Work Environment
Standard office environment as well as non-traditional environments including outdoor athletic fields, gymnasiums, weight rooms, locker rooms, and other athletic venues.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Typical hours are Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Frequent evening and weekend work is required for recruitment and competitions.
Travel
Extensive travel, including overnight trips, is required. A valid state-issued driver’s license and clean driving record are necessary.
