Mercer University men's lacrosse is seeking a 2nd Assistant Coach/Graduate Assistant to join our staff. The position will be asked to assist the Head Coach with all facets of a men's lacrosse program. Such involvement includes but is not limited to: Teaching student-athletes skill and instruction to develop their lacrosse ability. Educating student-athletes on team concepts, lacrosse rules and NCAA requirements. Assessing the performance ability of student-athletes as defined by team metrics and application of skill, technique, and game flow. Providing additional instruction as appropriate and leading film sessions to help support the development of student-athletes. Coordinate and manage all aspects of position/positions assignment as directed by the Head Coach. Performs planning, organization and execution for coaching instruction and education duties as described and assigned by the Head Coach for all meetings practice sessions and competitions. Perform game day organization and assignments as assigned by Head Coach.
Recruiting: identifying talented, academically qualified prospective student-athletes, perform recruiting activities and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach to meet the objectives of the College and team, including evaluation, contact and establishing relationships with prospective student athletes, families and coaches.
Administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: collaborating with coach to develop annual goals for the program, maintaining records, effectively communicating with coaches, prospects and parents, tracking academic progress and providing counseling as appropriate, assisting with fundraising, marketing and promotional activities, and administering sport camps as directed by head coach.
Assistant Coach/Associate Coach must perform duties in compliance with all College, Southern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Bachelor's degree required
Prior experience instructing and coaching, preferably at the NCAA level
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required
