The Department of Athletics of West Virginia Wesleyan College is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach. This is a full-time, 10-month appointment. Candidates should demonstrate lacrosse coaching success; excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills; possess a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes; and the ability to act as a mentor to all student-athletes of WVWC.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will: - Be responsible for all aspects of coaching a women's lacrosse team. - Actively recruit new student-athletes to West Virginia Wesleyan to maintain a full roster. - Actively monitor and encourage academic progress, retention, and graduation of student-athletes. - Adhere to the rules set forth by NCAA. - Monitor and discipline conduct of student-athletes. - Report scores/results to the media. - Order, inventory, distribute, and collect equipment at end of season. - Assist in organizing fund raisers to supplement annual budget for the team. - Conduct camps to promote the program, build community relations, and fundraise. - Plan game management for winter and spring games as assigned by the VP for Athletics. - Obtain scores and statistics from team to keep records updated. - Attend meetings as assigned by the VP for Athletics. - Assist in filming competitions and/or reading film. - Be responsible for Athletics contracts. - Candidates with a degree in sports management, physical education, athletic coaching, or recreation will be shown preference. - Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience required - Ability to demonstrate skills on field for practice - Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing. - Thorough knowledge of the following computer programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel & G Suite; Ability to work independently - Ability to complete tasks that have set deadlines - Strong ability to attract, recruit, and develop student-athletes - Understanding of how to develop a competitive sports program. - Ability to work well in a team environment
Reports To: Head Coach and/or VP for Athletics
Work hours: Office Hours daily/ Travel with recruiting/ Practices/ Games as scheduled Length of Assignment: 10 months; Aug. 1-May 31
Schedule: Monday to Friday; Weekends as needed. Work Location: In person
Valid US Driver's License
