Job Summary: Wagner College, an NCAA Division I institution located in Staten Island, New York, is looking for a motivated, energetic, and talented individual to serve as an Graduate Assistant Coach of Men’s & Women’s Fencing. This position reports to the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Fencing.
Job Duties
Comply with all NCAA Division I, Conference and Wagner College rules and regulations.
Assist with preparing the team for the varsity season including squad practices, working with individual athletes in lessons, scouting of opponents, and match preparation.
Attending all home and away meets, and driving athletes in a college van.
Assisting with monitoring academic progress of team members and other administrative work.
Set-up for practices and meets.
Qualifications:
4 years of intercollegiate fencing experience, or 2 years experience coaching within the sport of fencing.
Bachelor’s Degree and current valid driver’s license is required.
USFCA Assistant Moniteur or higher Certification preferred; must be able to pass SafeSport certification background check.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to use common technology tools (shared documents, spreadsheets, tracking software, etc).
Ability to work independently with little supervision; be conscientious and reliable, with an aptitude for creative problem solving; and obtain an attitude of mutual respect and collegiality.
Knowledge of sport-specific safety and rules of the game.
Commitment to working and teaching within an environment that embraces development of the whole student-athlete.
This position is ideal for a current senior or recent graduate. Anticipated start date is Fall 2025. Compensation includes tuition to obtain your Master’s of Business Administration (several specialties are available), on-campus housing, and meal plan.
