The Director of Athletics Communications is responsible for promoting the University's varsity athletic programs through strategic media relations, digital content, and storytelling. This role proactively generates positive media coverage, manages the official athletics website and social media platforms, and oversees the collection and distribution of statistics for all varsity sports. The Director works closely with coaches, student-athletes, and media partners, applying strong knowledge of collegiate athletics, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties
Manages athletic statistics and reporting for all 17 varsity sports, including timely submission of game results and statistics to the CACC, NCAA, and the University’s official athletics website. Develops and distributes athletic communications content, including feature stories, news releases, and social media posts, ensuring accuracy, adherence to the University Style Guide, and positive visibility for University athletics. Serves as the primary media relations contact by maintaining media lists, responding to information requests from local, regional, national, and league affiliates, and fostering strong relationships with sports, trade, and general media outlets. Oversees game-day and event communications operations by attending selected home and away contests, supervising student workers, and supporting athletic communications and game management functions. Collaborates with University Marketing & Communications, Public Relations, and other campus partners on institutional initiatives, special events, and announcements, and represents the department on campus committees and conference or NCAA working groups as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in communication, media relations, public relations, or a related field
3 years working in athletic communications at an NCAA institution
athletic website maintenance, writing and editing with an attention to detail, familiarity with social media platforms, background in Windows and Mac operating systems, Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), knowledge of basic layout and design principles, strong interpersonal skills, keen working knowledge of statistical software such as NCAA LiveStats, ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, familiarity with webcasting and video editing, and/or digital photography will be highly regarded

Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
