St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Assistant OR Associate Head Coach for Track and Field and Cross Country. This position supports the head coach in all aspects of the Track and Field/Cross Country programs. Responsibilities include recruiting, planning practice and competition schedules, coaching during practices and competitions, overseeing home meet administration, assisting with travel logistics, conducting academic reviews, supporting fundraising efforts, and managing public relations.
The start date for the position is June 1 or later.
Specific responsibilities: - Provide instruction and guidance to athletes in preparation for competitions, helping them perform at their best both individually and as a team. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques for track and cross country. Teach student-athletes how to use sports equipment effectively and safely. Organize and lead five weekly practice sessions, tailoring multiple sessions throughout the day based on event groups.
- Organize and assist with home and away meet competitions. Organize volunteers to assist with the field events and oversee the staffing of the concession stand at home meets. Organize travel and equipment for away meets.
- Assist with campus and off-campus recruiting activities. Make phone calls and email prospective student-athletes on an ongoing basis. Arrange visits to meet with prospective student-athletes in high school. Attend events outside of high school (cross country and track and field meets). Set up campus visits collaborating with SNC Admissions staff to formulate itineraries.
- Promote high school camps via newspaper, online, and direct mailings. Camps include: Fall Pole Vault, Winter Track Camp, Summer Track Camp & Meet, and Summer Distance Running Camp.
- Provide academic supervision of student-athletes by monitoring grades and progress and assisting those who are not meeting academic standards.
- Manage social media platforms, specifically the Cross Country/Track & Field Facebook Page, Instagram, and Snapchat.
Supervision Exercised Over: - 6-7 Volunteer Coaches Working Conditions: Travel requirements: 40% of the weekends for Track & Field/Cross-Country meets and recruiting. Work hours vary depending upon time of year, M – F, between 6:00 am – 8:00 pm. Weekend and evening hours are expected.

Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Experience in “sprints/jumps/multis” preferred.
US Track and Field Level II certification preferred in specific event area.
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or an approved NCAA approved strength and conditioning certification preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to communicate effectively with prospective student-athletes and their parents
Self-disciplined and organized to continually work on the task at hand.
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions expeditiously.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Skilled at organizing events, programs, and projects and seeing them through to completion.
Skilled at working with large (>100) groups of people.
