Saint Anselm College, a Catholic, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time, 10-month Assistant Athletic Trainer. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer/Director of Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide day to day assistance with the administration of the Sports Medicine Program for the health, safety and welfare of student-athletes. The successful candidate will place highest priority on the medical treatment and well-being of the more than 600 student-athletes the Athletics department serves.
Essential Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities:
Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries. Supervise sports medicine needs of specific teams as assigned by head trainer. Assist in establishing and maintaining a working relationship with coaches, physicians, parents and college Health Services and refer students as necessary. Assist with the medical record-keeping and insurance for student-athletes. Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations with head athletic trainer. Schedule doctor’s appointments for injured athletes. Assist with inventory of medical supplies and equipment. Counsel student-athletes with regard to a variety of medical issues Remain in full compliance with NCAA, conference and college policies and procedures, and acknowledges this compliance as part of the evaluation process. Obtains the required continuing education credits to fulfill the requirements for licensure renewal and national certification. Perform related duties as assigned. Frequent evenings and weekend work required. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related discipline is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Previous experience as a graduate assistant athletic trainer or as an assistant athletic trainer is preferred. Must be certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers, earn licensure from the state of New Hampshire and hold current BLS certification.
