Kalamazoo College invites applications for the position of Head Baseball Coach. This full-time, 12-month role is responsible for the administration, management, and promotion of a highly competitive NCAA Division III baseball program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position offers the opportunity to mentor and empower student-athletes on and off the field while building meaningful relationships with recruits, families, alumni, and the broader Kalamazoo community.
The program is supported by a strong staff, including multiple assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning professionals, and has a recent history of conference championships, NCAA tournament appearances, and academic excellence. In this role, you will:
Lead and manage all aspects of the baseball program to ensure competitive success and operational excellence
Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy aligned with Kalamazoo College’s academic and athletic standards
Plan and oversee practices, competitions, conditioning programs, and team travel
Foster a positive, inclusive team culture centered on integrity, sportsmanship, and academic success
Manage program budgeting, including monitoring expenses and coordinating financial approvals
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, including assigning responsibilities and conducting evaluations
Ensure full compliance with NCAA Division III, MIAA, and institutional rules and policies
Coordinate competition scheduling with the Director of Athletics
Build strong relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, alumni, donors, and the campus community
Support departmental initiatives through fundraising, promotions, and community engagement
Teach physical education activity courses and contribute to campus committees as assigned
Maintain accurate records and uphold all administrative and compliance requirements
A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred)
At least five years of coaching experience, ideally at the collegiate level
Demonstrated success recruiting student-athletes in alignment with academic standards
Strong understanding of NCAA Division III rules and compliance expectations
A deep commitment to the holistic development and well-being of student-athletes
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
A proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
A commitment to academic excellence and positive team culture
Experience or enthusiasm for fundraising, program promotion, and community engagement
