Description: Abilene Christian University, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), is seeking qualified applications for the position of Graphic Design Assistant. Wildcats Athletics is a not-for-profit corporation which was organized in 1919 to foster the development of intercollegiate athletics in conjunction with the educational activities of Abilene Christian University. Wildcats Athletics operates the varsity intercollegiate programs (17 programs) of Abilene Christian University. With a total enrollment of over 6,730 students ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. All applicants must be in support of the Christian mission and purpose of Abilene Christian University while employed by the university.
Position Summary: The principal purpose of this position is to aid in the creative direction, graphic design, illustration, and print production for design projects produced by the Department of Athletics. The major objective of this position is to assist in successfully meeting the design needs of the Department by creating professional, high-quality graphics within the requested deadline. This position will report directly to the Athletics Graphic Designer and work closely with a team of administrators and professional staff. This is an on-site position that includes a monthly stipend, with the possibility of campus housing or an adjusted stipend amount in lieu of housing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and produce content requested by the Marketing and Creative Services Department, including but not limited to video board graphics, marketing materials (digital and print), and social media content;
- Execute design needs for assigned sport programs and provide design support for other sports as needed;
- Assist with the design of sponsor-related content requested by Abilene Christian Sports Properties;
- Assist with organizing the photo inventory and creating cutouts of athletes and coaches;
- Contribute ideas to elevate the ACU Athletics brand while adhering to department brand guidelines;
- Help guide and delegate tasks to Graphic Design interns;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- Working knowledge of Adobe software such as After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop;
- Time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and great attention to detail;
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Interest in continuing to build skill set with education and training;
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed;
- Desire to elevate the brand of ACU Athletics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Art, or related discipline;
- Experience working in sports graphic design or closely related field;
- Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills;
- Proficiency with Adobe software such as After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop;
Work Environment:
This job operates as an on-site position. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.
