Duties and Responsibilities: Assist head coach in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA, NCHC Conferences. Instruct and teach student athletes in fundamentals of sport technique and strategy. Plan and execute practice and competition plans including the evaluation of opponents. Evaluate and recruit qualified student athletes to UMD whose athletic skills make them highly competitive and whose academic abilities make them good candidates for our student population. Perform administrative responsibilities, including assisting in budget planning and management, scheduling of competitions and planning and executing team travel. Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student athletes to help them achieve full potential. Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations of the Department, the University, our Conference affiliations, and the NCAA. Serves as an integral part of achieving fund raising, budget and community service goals. Support the UMD Athletics mission of excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition, while furthering the strategic plan of UMD. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university

-1-3 years of combined experience at the NCAA Division I, professional or upper tier junior hockey

-Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

-Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment

-Experience as a student athlete and/or experience recruiting student athletes

-Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and verbally

-Experience working with diverse populations
