The Assistant Director of Compliance will provide assistance, support, interpretation, and coordination in overseeing all procedures and systems necessary to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in complying with NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations for 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. The selected candidate will help coordinate NCAA rules education programs for administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and booster groups and work with admissions office, financial aid office, and registrar's office to ensure compliance with NCAA and conference regulations. Additional duties will include:
Assist in the preparation of NCAA squad lists and eligibility certifications.
Help with the NCAA initial and continuing eligibility process.
Facilitate annual eligibility/educational meetings with each team.
Assist in the completion and submission of required NCAA and Conference reports and surveys.
Assist in monitoring and maintenance of compliance-related records.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Aid in identifying areas of need or risk and assist responsible parties in improving or correcting the situation.
Provide rules interpretations regarding NCAA bylaws and other regulations.
Additionally, the Assistant Director of Compliance will provide academic mentoring to student-athletes and help with the development of the Life Skills program. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.
Two academic years' experience working in college athletics. One academic year must be in an NCAA compliance office on a campus, at the NCAA, or in a conference office, or any combination thereof. An academic year appointment as a graduate assistant, part-time employee, or intern qualifies as one year.
Experience working with ARMS or other compliance software.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong and effective communication skills and ability to relate to coaches, student-athletes and other constituency groups.
Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve and critically think.
Familiarity with all NCAA bylaws.
Experience using NCAA Compliance Assistant and RSRO.
