Mercer University’s Athletics Department is searching for qualified candidates for a graduate assistant position in our Student-Athlete Support Services office beginning summer of 2024. Under the supervision of the Director of Student-Athlete Support Services, the graduate assistant will work with other members of our team to provide academic support to Mercer student-athletes.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Conducting weekly academic meetings with all first-year, transfer, and at-risk student-athletes from specified teams.
Preparing weekly academic meeting notes to be shared with coaching staff and other support team members.
Overseeing the use of resources available to student athletes such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, and professor office hours.
Monitoring study hall daily, including some evening hours.
Assisting with academic advising to prepare for priority registration periods, which includes course schedule creation and academic progress checks.
Preparing academic success plans for student-athletes who show signs of being at-risk
