The Head Coach will be responsible for administering all of the year-round activities and operations of our golf program renowned for it’s excellence. The responsibilities are restricted and defined by ODAC and NCAA rules and guidelines, federal laws, and College policies. This position will work cooperatively with student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing daily practice plans; a nationally competitive schedule; monitoring the academic progress of the student athletes and managing and adhering to the budget; coordinate all aspects of prospective student-athlete official visits, coaches recruiting travel, recruiting weekends, and overall recruiting coordination within NCAA bylaws; assumes responsibility for the retention and matriculation process for student-athletes in their athletic and academic endeavors; promotes a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the College by establishing and enforcing standards of personal behavior, conduct and appearance for the Golf coaching staff, athletes and support personnel on and off the College campus. Additional duties may include work on an annual golf tournament.
The golf team is housed in the beautiful Jack Jensen Golf Center located on campus and practices at the The Cardinal by Pete Dye, a private facility located five minutes from campus. The team also utilizes several exceptional courses in the Greensboro area. Guilford College Men’s Golf is consistently nationally ranked and is a proud member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III.
Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years of successful intercollegiate men’s golf coaching experience; demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and a proven commitment to high ethical standards and academics; demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment; excellent organizational and administrative skills; excellent knowledge of technique and strategies of golf; success in recruiting high-caliber student-athletes to a golf program committed to athletic excellence; superior communication and public relations skills.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least one to three years of related experience in coaching collegiate golf. Must have thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as well as demonstrated experience in leadership, budgeting and personnel management in athletics. Must have a demonstrable understanding of Title IX regulations and compliance. Must have a personal commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy about the role and value of intercollegiate athletics in a student’s educational experience. Must be committed to diversity, including gender equity among student-athletes and coaching staff.
