The Opportunity:
The Director of Sports Marketing & Fan Experience position is responsible for increasing event attendance and increasing positive engagement across all Embry-Riddle Athletic marketing channels through a positive fan experience, both in-arena and out.
Essential Job Functions and Duties:
Marketing:
Oversee the design and implementation of effective marketing campaigns to increase revenue and enhance exposure for the department and its individual sports programs.
Develop a comprehensive plan and calendar to effectively communicate with all Embry-Riddle Athletics’ stakeholders.
Oversee all community and grassroots special event initiatives.
Attend events on campus to generate new prospects.
Develop and grow engagement on Embry-Riddle Athletics’ digital platforms (social media, email, mobile app, etc.).
Develop, coordinate, and implement all game-day promotional events; collaborate with student organizations (i.e., Greek Life, Housing, and Student Government) to maintain and foster athletics attendance and support.
Fan Experience:
Oversee the creation of a fan-centric game day atmosphere and establishment of new promotions, events, and traditions to increase the branding, marketing, and fan experience of all athletics constituents.
Oversee the game presentation for all Embry-Riddle athletic events; event vendors/talent, scripting, partner activation, theme nights, etc.
Content Creation:
Graphic design for digital and print creative.
Inspire new ways of thinking and explore the unknown using fresh and unique approaches to design to create and solve visual communication opportunities that brings to life the brand through design and storytelling.
Conceptualize and execute designs from ideation to completion.
Produce promotional video content.
Revenue Generation:
Meet or exceed annual revenue goals.
Support group ticket sales.
Develop and sell creative marketing solutions that exceed the needs of the client.
Create and present integrated marketing packages using traditional, digital, and other non-traditional marketing channels to meet client’s objectives.
Understand the changing landscape of sponsorship marketing.
Collaborate with vendors, sponsors, and appropriate university athletic personnel to ensure implementation of sponsorships and contract fulfillment.
Administrative:
Serve as a liaison between the Athletics Department and various campus
organizations and outside vendors.
Supervise interns and other student staff.
Annual event oversight as assigned.
Annual event support as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Required skills, knowledge, abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong organizational skills. Requires the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of constituencies. Ability to collaborate with campus departments to provide support services to student-athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA, Division II and Sunshine State Conference eligibility compliance rules and regulations. Previous experience with student-athlete eligibility processing preferred. Experience with academically focused support programming preferred.
