Football Head Coach Whittier College Whittier College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), invites applications for the position of full-time Head Football Coach. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics, the Head Football Coach will be responsible for the oversight in all areas of the football program and will lead all aspects of a nationally competitive Football team. A commitment to excellence in academics, a positive student athlete experience, timely graduation rates, and service to others are essential to this position. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, energetic, and personable coach who will not only build upon the great traditions established at the college, including 26 SCIAC Championships, but will bring new and innovative ideas to revive the program back to national prominence. The coach will work within the College mission to build and guide a competitive and positive high level athletic experience for student-athletes.
Hours: Position requires irregular office hours including after-hours and weekend work to attend competitions, practices, and college events. Consecutive days of work related activity often exceed seven or more during season. Office hours will be established in consultation with the Executive Director of Athletics Exempt Status: Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000 anually; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes within the Whittier College guidelines based on the NCAA and SCIAC regulations. • Identify PSA's through outreach to High School/College coaches, research and recruiting platforms. • Provide opportunities for skill development of student-athletes. Develop, communicate, research and implement game strategies for competitions. Design, periodize, and implement daily proactive and training schedules for student-athletes. • Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and study hall programs, ensuring a positive experience in the program and satisfactory progress in retention and positive graduation outcomes. • Build, develop, and maintain regular contact and relationships with the program's alumni which will include conducting alumni events. • Take a major Fundraising role for the program in conjunction with the College Development Office and the Athletics department. • Coordinate community service efforts for the Football program. • Take responsibility for all necessary administrative responsibilities for the program including budget management and coordination, supervision of assistant coaches and Game Day organization of home athletics contests. Other related duties related to the work described herein or assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree and at least eight years of college or professional coaching; collegiate experience is preferred. Excellent administrative, organizational, recruiting and fundraising skills are also required. The successful candidate will be expected to understand and comply with applicable laws, college policies, SCIAC and NCAA regulations. A record of demonstrated trustworthiness, honesty, and reliability are essential to all head coaching positions at the College. The successful candidate is expected to develop a climate of trust, integrity, and open communication with academic and administrative colleagues and with students.
