The successful candidate will provide dynamic and strategic leadership for all aspects of a competitive football program that aligns with Bethany’s mission of academics, holistic student-athlete development, and service. The Head Football Coach is responsible for fostering a positive, accountable, and student-centered culture that emphasizes integrity, academic achievement, recruiting success, and community engagement.
Responsibilities include:
Build, sustain, and model a championship-caliber culture rooted in accountability, discipline, player development, and team cohesion.
Emphasize academic success, well-being, and personal growth.
Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy focused on high-character student-athletes, with a strong emphasis on Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and surrounding regions.
Manage all aspects of practice planning, game strategy, film breakdown, and player evaluations.
Oversee assistant coaches and support staff with strong leadership and communication.
Ensure compliance with all NCAA Division III, PAC, and institutional rules and policies.
Manage program budget and resources responsibly.
Engage alumni, donors, and community partners to support program visibility and growth.

Bethany offers 23 teams on the intercollegiate level. Our athletes compete at the NCAA Division III level. Bethany teams have a long-time tradition of not only competing for conference championships, but also for appearances in postseason play. Bison athletic programs are affiliated with the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). Our Bison compete against several other top liberal arts colleges from the region. In its history, Bethany’s accomplishments include the 1994 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Championship,100+ Presidents’ Athletic Conference championships, 70+ NCAA Tournament Appearances, and 50+ ECAC Championship appearances.

Required
Bachelor’s degree.
5 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate level (NCAA Division III or similar preferred).
Demonstrated success in recruiting and roster building.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and Bethany College mission.
Preferred
Master’s degree.
Defensive or offensive coordinator experience at the collegiate level.
Established recruiting ties in the Ohio Valley region (OH/WV/PA).
Experience managing staff and program operations.
