Cerro Coso Community College is a member of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) within the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). Cerro Coso CC is part of the Kern Community College District located in Ridgecrest, CA. The program is advertising the position of Assistant Women’s Softball Coach (Pitching preferred). The incumbent is expected to fulfill all duties associated with collegiate coaching. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with recruiting, collegiate playing experience, as well as coaching at the collegiate level.

Pay is $12,400 stipend with potential compensation contingent upon funding.
Desirable Qualifications: • Successful experience as a head coach/assistant coach at the college or university level, or as a head coach/assistant coach at the high school level. • Expertise in physical education/fitness, recreation, health education/wellness, nutrition or related fields and a specialization in coaching. • Energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence in athletics. • Experience in and demonstrated recruiting contacts. • An understanding of the advantages and challenges of developing and maintaining a program and team sports in a small, rural community college. • Ability, interest, and willingness to develop and maintain working relationships with local high schools to facilitate recruiting and articulation of the softball program. • Ability to deliver instruction using strategies designed for diverse learning styles. • Willingness to work with students from diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.

As a CCCAA school, Cerro Coso Community College does not provide financial aid to students based on athletic ability. The same standards for awarding financial aid are applied to athletes and non-athletes.

Provide all intercollegiate teams with coaches who:
Know and can teach the sport they coach; Will deal honestly and equitably with prospective students, and with members of their teams;
Are aware of and responsive to the classroom needs of their athletes;
Provide equitable levels of competition for all intercollegiate teams;?
Emphasize the importance of regular-season competition within the Central Valley Conference, and with other Southern California community colleges of similar philosophy and ability.
Cerro Coso Community College acknowledges its responsibility to support, within budget constraints, its intercollegiate athletes when they have opportunities for post-season competition in CCCAA games or tournaments.
