Middle Tennessee State University’s Athletic Marketing Department is seeking a dynamic and creative Graduate Assistant to join our team. This two-year assistantship offers valuable hands-on experience in Division I athletics, assisting the Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement and the Director for Marketing in developing, coordinating, and implementing marketing plans for MTSU’s 17 Division I programs. The selected candidate will assist in enhancing the Blue Raider brand, driving attendance, and creating a memorable gameday atmosphere. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sports marketing, event coordination, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as primary marketing contact for assigned sports and secondary contact for all others.
· Develop and implement marketing plans to increase fan engagement and support revenue goals.
· Develop production timelines, organize in-venue entertainment and sponsorship activations, coordinate with spirit groups, and serve as athletics liaison for community and campus groups in preparation for game day.
· Provide updates to the coaching staff of assigned sports and communicate relevant information to other departments as needed.
· Assist with marketing efforts across digital platforms, including social media, email, and video board content.
· Assisting with marketing game-day setup and teardown for home athletic events.
· Create and distribute marketing materials and promotional graphics for grassroots efforts and broader campaigns.
· Collaborate with student section leaders to increase and maintain high levels of student involvement and attendance.
· Support student and community outreach through event planning and participation.
· Develop, monitor, and maintain the Blue Raider Pet Club program.
· Maintain organized marketing storage and oversee inventory management.
· Help manage student interns and game day staff.
· Attend departmental meetings and assist with special projects as assigned.
· Ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference USA, and university policies.
· Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Marketing and the Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement.
Qualifications:
· Must be admitted to a graduate program at Middle Tennessee State University.
· Must be enrolled full-time.
· Previous experience in sports marketing, communications, or event operations is expected.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong emphasis on Photoshop.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential. A strong enthusiasm for the marketing process and attention to detail in achieving project goals are highly valued.
· Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required.
· This is an in-person position, and the candidate must be willing to relocate to the area.
