About the Job:
The Assistant Men's and Women's Cross Country and Distance Coach will assist in coordinating all aspects of the George Fox University Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Long Distance programs. This includes responsibilities related to coaching, recruiting, organizing, and executing practice and competition strategies, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, team management, and overall program administration.
In addition to coaching duties, this role will also support the athletic department by assisting with game management responsibilities across various sports as needed.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning and Leading Training Sessions (30%) Scheduling, organizing, and conducting effective practice and training sessions for cross country and distance track student-athletes.
Competition Planning and Coaching (20%) Coordinating competition schedules, managing travel logistics including transportation, hotel accommodations, and meals, and providing coaching and support during meets.
Recruitment (30%) Assisting in identifying and recruiting student-athletes who are both athletically talented and academically qualified, in alignment with the university's mission and standards.
Program Administration (5%) Managing day-to-day administrative tasks, including NCAA eligibility compliance, communication with sports marketing and public relations, attending departmental meetings, and completing required paperwork. Ensuring adherence to NCAA, NWC, and George Fox University regulations.
Budget and Fundraising Support (5%) Assisting with budget planning and oversight, as well as supporting fundraising efforts to enhance program resources.
Game Management Support (10%) Assisting the athletic department with game management responsibilities across various sports as needed.
Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

Job information:
Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE) This position requires irregular office hours including after-hours and weekend work to attend competitions, practices, etc.
Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus Local and national travel is required.
Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.

A Bachelor's Degree
Demonstrated Cross Country and Distance Coaching experience.
The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on the telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
