DUTIES: Responsible for the leadership and development of student athletes including:
Discipleship
Discipleship of men and women in the program to facilitate spiritual growth in each student athlete
Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition
Monitoring academic performance of student athletes and partnering with Student Development for discipleship, development, and retention of student athletes
Counseling team members in disciplinary, academic, or personal matters while consulting with LETU administration on matters requiring resolution of problems
Recruiting
Serve as the recruiting coordinator for the tennis program, including recruiting and retaining quality student athletes who understand and embrace LeTourneau University’s mission and vision
Find student athletes that are equipped with the ability to achieve academic and athletic success
Working in conjunction with the head coach to fill a roster of 20 student-athletes
Also fill the role of camp coordinator, to enhance the program’s recruiting efforts Achieving assigned roster numbers
Excellence
Work to ensure we are the most effective and most successful athletic department in the Southern Colligate Athletic Conference in all facets
Preparing the student-athletes in the analyses of specific sport analyses and planning strategies accordingly
Preparing student-athletes physically by instructing proper strength and conditioning
Handling all social media accounts for the LETU tennis program, regularly producing engaging content
Service
Regularly serve in the department in any area needed, including spiritual development, court maintenance, home events oversight, and fundraising activities
Contributing and caring for the development and growth of the athletic department as a whole, in tangible ways
Creating service and mission opportunities for student athletes to invest in the community
Administrative Effectiveness
Ensuring compliance with the University, SCAC Conference and NCAA policies and regulations
Assist the head coach in determining fiscal requirements and budgetary recommendations for the team, while monitoring, verifying, and reconciling expenditures of budgeted funds
Coordinating the scheduling, planning and management of home and away contests with the head coach
Monitoring academic progress and acting as a liaison to the program
Approaching every facet of this position with a high degree of professionalism
Performing other duties as requested by the head coach or VP Director of Athletics
QUALIFICATIONS:
LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith committed to aChristian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.
1-2 years of related experience, preferably in the coaching of athletic programs at the collegiate level.
Ability to be a dynamic leader within the athletic department
Strong organizational ability
Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members.
Good written and oral communication skills.
A strong understanding of and commitment to NCAA Division III.
An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
