Buena Vista University, an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Volleyball Coach. The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist the Head Coach with all duties of successfully operating our volleyball program, including recruiting student-athletes, assisting with practice sessions/game preparation/game-day coaching, monitoring the student-athletes academically and managing game-day operations. As a member of the athletics department, other duties may be assigned by the Director of Athletics to support the overall success of BVU Athletic programs.
This position is not eligible for an employer-sponsored visa, and all applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. A background check will be conducted on the final candidate.

Primary Duties
Assist in advising student-athletes and staff of applicable NCAA, A-R-C, and volleyball specific rules, regulations, and University policies and ensure compliance of such regulations.
Assist in developing pre-season, in-season and off-season training for the team with the Head Coach and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Recruit student-athletes compatible with Buena Vista University’s mission and the specific goals of the volleyball program.
Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement team, Athletics department, and University measures to support their academic performance.
Act as the primary coach of the JV program.
Communicate with the student-athletes about academics and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
Plan and direct athletics skill development for student-athletes.
Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
Cooperate with the University Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
Assume responsibility to student-athlete compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Assist the Head Coach and the Athletics Director in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.
Work with alumni student groups, University administration, and community groups to seek support for the team.
