As a member of the coaching staff responsibilities include working closely with the Head Coach to develop and coach an NCAA Division III athletic team, and assist with all phases of directing and managing a successful football program. Maintain knowledge of defensive coaching strategies and oversee all aspects of the team defense. Actively ensure compliance with all NCAA and Ithaca College rules and regulations; participate in establishing goals and objectives for each season; recruiting, and assessing prospective student athletes for the program. Design and provide instruction on individual and team skills and physical health and safety to student athletes. Assist all other sports in administering weight programs for athletic teams. Hire, train, and supervise student staff in the weight room. Monitor all athletics strength and conditioning programs to comply with safety standards. The Assistant Coach participates in fundraising projects and other activities promoting the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and will teach PALS courses and/or perform administrative responsibilities. This position has the potential to have some Coordinator job responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience; demonstrated ability to plan and conduct pre-season, in-season and non-traditional and post-season team/individual athlete practices and competitions; experience developing and implement conditioning programs for teams and or/individuals, experience recruiting athletes, scheduling and coordinating special events or athletic contest, excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail are required. Masters degree or progress towards and advanced degree and previous experience working in a college or university athletics department is highly desired. National certification in strength and conditioning preferred.
