The Graduate Assistant for Creative Video/Photography will work within the NCAA Division I Department of Athletics to assist in creating and executing digital media content for all 15 Division 1 programs. This position reports to the Coordinator of Creative Media and will work closely with the department's communications, marketing, and social media teams. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for sports and storytelling, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
SEMO is the winner of the OVC Commissioner's Cup in two of the past four school years, and has won more conference championships than any other school in the OVC since 2019. Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Barke was named NACDA Athletic Director of the Year in 2022.
The University has a total enrollment of nearly 10,000 students in Cape Girardeau, MO, situated near the bank of the Mississippi River in a community of over 80,000 in Cape Girardeau County. Cape Girardeau is located on Interstate 55, approximately two hours south of St. Louis, and three hours north of Memphis.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and execution of creative digital content, including videos, graphics, and photos for use on social media, websites, and other digital platforms
Collaborate with coaches and student-athletes to produce compelling content that showcases their stories and accomplishments
Manage content calendars and schedules to ensure timely delivery of projects
Assist in the management of social media accounts and track analytics to measure effectiveness of content
Support the department's game day production team by producing in-game video features and other content
Assist with basic video editing tasks and assist in filming of events and practices
Maintain the department's photo and video archives
Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Creative Media.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Visual Media, or related field
Acceptance into a graduate program at an accredited college or university
Experience with videography and photography
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere and Photoshop
Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by events
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Previous experience in a collegiate athletics environment is preferred, but not required
Graduate Assistant Requirements
Admission to the School of Graduate Studies and a Master’s Program at Southeast Missouri State
Maintain a 3.0 GPA in their selected area of study during graduate school
