This is a 10 month position with a report date in mid August and an end date in late May.
The typical weekly hours worked is less than 29 hours total.
Full tuition, room and board (standard double with past history of obtaining a single as space permits) at the University of Rio Grande completely paid to complete a Master’s degree.
In lieu of room and board, a stipend of $6000 per year will be paid.

Position summary: The University of Rio Grande seeks two highly motivated, high-energy individuals to join the staff of the Track and Field Program. This posting is for (2) positions available for the Spring 2024-2025 school year. Rio Grande competes in the River States Conference of the NAIA. These are Graduate Assistant positions and require experience in the hurdles, jumps, and/or throws.
Rio Grande features an opportunity to work in a quickly growing, competitive program, with a great team culture. As a result of recent success, the staff has expanded dramatically in the past year and as a result, the University will be making two additional positions available for spring 2024-2025. The last two years have seen the Track & Field program grow from 25 athletes to 70 plus athletes, and consequently our staff has grown to nine full-time, part time, and graduate assistant coaches.
Along with our increase in athlete participation and coaching opportunities, we have seen a huge upsurge in our competitiveness across the board. We are currently ranked 11th in the nation in men’s cross country after being 4th in our conference just 2 years ago. We look for similar gains this spring in all aspects of our program.
Position Requirements:
Coaching an event area at all practices and general athlete supervision Planning, implementation, and evaluation of practices for the assigned event area(s) Assists head coach and coordinates with other assistants in oversight of all aspects of your assigned athletes academic and general well being
Recruits student-athletes as directed by the head coach.
Understands and follows NAIA and conference rules and regulations
Drive University and rental vehicles as needed
Facility preparation for all practices, meets and other events.
Care and management of program equipment
Campus and community relations
Perform office related tasks and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Must have the ability to effectively coach an event group as part of a highly competitive collegiate track and field program as evidenced by a complete resume of successful previous coaching and/or athletic participation in that area for at least five years.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree that allows you to be admitted to a Graduate Program at the University.
Candidates should possess strong organizational, and written and oral communication skills
