Position Summary: Support Tulane athletics programs and external departments to promote and enhance, through digital, video and social media, the brand of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director, Creative Services, this person serves as one of the point people for comprehensive integrated digital, communications and marketing strategies, which utilize online communications tools, with special attention to creative video and social media. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments involving immediate attention. Must be proficient in video shooting and editing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Oversee the creation, editing and implementation of video content for TulaneGreenwave.com, Tulane’s social media accounts and various external channels. Maintain fresh and innovative video clips for Tulane Athletics’ social media channels. (60%)
2. Works with the creative solutions department to coordinate the activities of the athletics video staff (graduate assistant and students) for creative video production, which includes but is not limited to: highlights of athletic contests, motivational videos for athletic teams, programming for special events, videos for display boards at athletic venues, as well as videos for use on web, social media and television. (35%)
3. Performs other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. (5%)
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years’ experience in the marketing, video or public relations field
Professional experience in digital design, video editing and video shooting capabilities.
OR
High School diploma/equivalent
9 years’ experience in the marketing, video or public relations field
Professional experience in digital design, video editing and video shooting capabilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
A broad understanding of creative video trends and technologies.
Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing video and digital media initiatives.
Solid working knowledge of industry standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.
Efficient audio and video editing skills.
Must possess the ability to learn new technologies, techniques and solve problems quickly and completely.
Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
Strong sense of professionalism & judgment in response to issues in the public social media space.
Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes, media and vendors
Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
Proven ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
Strong writing skills
Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
Possible travel with sport teams for select away contests
Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
Previous experience at the NCAA DI level
NCAA Related:
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
