Gettysburg College, located in historical Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. The College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college, which enrolls approximately 2,400 primarily residential students. The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual who has a strong administrative, collaborative and student-focused background to serve in this position. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for providing the operation, oversight, design, implementation, and the direct supervision, of the strength and conditioning programs for all 24 varsity sports in the athletic department. The successful candidate will: -Design, implement, and directly supervise strength and conditioning and speed and agility programs for all 24 varsity athletic teams -Instruct and communicate technique refinement through various teaching methods, and demand a higher level of performance through positive feedback and cues -Foster a culture of innovation and excellence with sports performance including but not limited to usage, monitoring/analysis with appropriate technology -Maintain a complete data file of individual student-athletes training performance -Assist all varsity athletic programs with proper guidelines for nutrition -Work collaboratively with the sports medicine department on the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes -Supervise assistant sport coaches, sport specific interns, and part-time strength and conditioning coaches in strength and conditioning responsibilities -Responsible for equipment maintenance, cleaning, and purchases -Responsible for effective communication and collaboration with coaches, athletic department support staff, and fitness center professional and student staff -Serve as mandatory reporter as Campus Security Authority (CSA) -Attend an in-person or register electronically for required training for CSAs, including Cleary and Title IX reporting requirements -Report all allegations (i.e.: criminal offenses, hate crimes, VAWA offenses, etc.) made in good faith to the reporting structure established by the institution
Three or more years of college strength and conditioning coaching, or related experience preferred
Have earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree is preferred, and should be able to demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in exercise science, anatomy and physiology, or related fields
Should have knowledge of coaching techniques and skills in Olympic-style weight-lifting exercises and sport specific speed, agility, and quickness (SAQ); various computer software applications, including Microsoft Office programs
Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, be able to handle multiple tasks, and understand NCAA rules and regulations and who has the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members
Certification in First Aid and CPR is required and may be obtained upon hiring. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S), preferred, or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (S.C.C.C.) required. Additional instructor certifications (yoga, spinning, kettlebells, TRX, etc.) are welcome

The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach is a 12-month, full-time, administrative appointment reporting to the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a 3 year position through May 2027 (with the possibility of an extension). Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by an excellent benefits package.
