The Assistant Athletics Director for Development, under supervision from the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement, is responsible for developing and executing the plan to increase total membership in One Spartan Nation, with a particular focus on increasing the number of new members through both giving and ticket sales, drive increased membership renewal percentages, plan and execute an annual volunteer Membership Drive, design and manage the stewardship process for all Athletics annual giving donors in One Spartan Nation, and lead the sales of premium seating (suites, club areas, and courtside seats) for the Department. The incumbent will collaborate with University Advancement colleagues in Annual Giving and the stewardship office to conceptualize, develop, deliver and track appeals. The Assistant AD for Development will also manage and grow a portfolio of prospects and donors capable of making annual gifts of $1,000 or greater. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of Athletics affinity programs to encourage the participation of alumni, students, faculty and staff, parents, and friends in supporting SJSU Athletics. The incumbent will also manage a portfolio of prospects in order to cultivate, solicit, and steward in the major gifts process. The Assistant AD for Development will serve as the lead on the premium seating sales and fulfillment for Football and Basketball. This includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding (through hospitality) donors to purchase suites, club seats, and courtside seats at Spartan Athletics. In addition, the incumbent will identify major gift prospects for Athletics priority projects for proper advancement in the Development process.
Required: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of related development experience, preferably in an educational institution. Equivalent experience in business will be considered. Preferred: Master's Degree and experience designing, implementing, and/or evaluating a comprehensive athletics annual giving program, establishing goals and objectives that translate into operating plans. Experience with the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics. Demonstrated excellent written communication skills.
