The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical direction of the Head Team Physician and will be responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations for the Track and Field and Cross Country teams. Duties include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices and events; manage functional movement assessments, corrective exercises, and injury prevention programming; assisting with administrative duties; and performing other duties as assigned. This position works collaboratively with two additional Athletic Trainers to provide care and coverage to Track and Cross Country.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Athletic Training Program is required.
Education: Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a certified Athletic Trainer providing health care for intercollegiate and/or professional athletes required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong organization, administrative and communication skills.
Master’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field.
Preference with manual therapy techniques and advanced clinical skills (e.g. BFR, Graston, Dry Needling, SFMA, kinesiotaping, casting, etc).
Previous athletic training experience with track and field and or cross country athletes.
Current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure.
Must have and maintain current Board of Certification (BOC) along with CPR/AED Certifications.
Current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer.
Must possess and maintain a Driver’s License valid in the State of Maryland.
